Privacy

Your privacy, in plain words.

The short version: your images never leave your device.

Your images stay with you

Image Compressor decodes, resizes, and re-encodes every file inside your own browser using WebAssembly. Your images are never uploaded to any server. You can check this yourself. Open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab, and compress an image. You will not see a single upload request.

No account needed

There is no sign-up and no login, because we never handle your files in the first place. You open the page and use the tool. That is the whole flow.

Metadata is removed

Re-encoding an image drops its metadata, including EXIF data, camera details, and GPS location. The copies you download are clean, with none of that baked in.

What we can and cannot see

Because everything runs locally, we have no way to see your images, their contents, their file names, or how many you process. There is nothing on our side to leak, subpoena, or sell.

Cookies and analytics

Right now the only thing the site keeps on your device is your light or dark theme preference, stored in your browser. We may use privacy-friendly analytics to understand which features people use so we can improve the tool. Any analytics like that only ever looks at aggregate, anonymous usage. It never includes your images or anything inside them.

Fonts and assets

Fonts and code are served from the same place as the site and cached by your browser, so the tool keeps working quickly on repeat visits.

Have a question about how any of this works? The FAQ covers the common ones, the whole tool is open to inspection in your browser, and you can always reach us on the contact page.
